PALM BEACH — Here’s something you don’t see every day in Palm Beach: The chichi island’s residents who live near The Breakers have been told by cops to stay home and be on the lookout for one or several murder suspects who ditched their car on the hotel’s property!
Palm Beach Police are being assisted by Palm Beach County Sheriff‘s deputies in the search.
Several K-9 units have been seen among the multi-million dollar houses just south of the hotel, and some residents were woken up by police knocking on doors.
Authorities are also scouring the hotel’s sprawling golf course and north on the business-heavy Royal Poinciana Way.
There are scant details about the Miami incident that sparked the Palm Beach manhunt. But authorities believe the perpetrators of a home invasion there stole the homeowner’s car and drove north to Palm Beach.
The homeowner, who had yet to be identified, was shot dead.
The car was found crashed in bushes at $400-a-night Breakers about 5 a.m. with no trace of occupants. Guests of the famed resort have also been warned to be careful.
