Ex-Governor Charlie and Carole Crist are facing a taxing problem! (via Facebook)
SAINT PETERSBURG — The bureaucracy that’s being run by incumbent Gov. Rick Scott just filed a tax lien against his Democratic challenger Charlie Crist‘s wife, Gossip Extra has learned exclusively.

According to a document filed in Crist’s home city of St. Petersburg, the state’s Department of Revenues filed a lien against Carole Crist for non-payment of the reemployment tax for a period stretching from July 2012 through September 2013.
For the oversight, the state wants millionaire Carole to pony up $352.61, which includes the actual $100-tax, a $200-penalty, $50.24 in fees and $2.37 in interest.
A Crist campaign source close to Carole tells me the mandatory business tax on employees was supposed to be paid by Carole for her use of a personal assistant.
But something went awry.
“This is an error due to a late filing by Mrs. Crist’s New York accountant during Hurricane Sandy,” the campaign source said. “The accountant is no longer handling Mrs. Crist’s returns but the error is understandable under the circumstances.”
It’s not the first time, however, that a reemployment tax lien is filed against Carole Crist.
Two were filed against her for a total $1,860 in 2011 in Miami, where she lived before she married Charlie in 2008.
She paid up and cleared that lien within weeks.
At the time, Charlie was governor!
By the way, Charlie’s leading the race this month but Scott appears to be closing in.
