Ryan Gosling is “still haunted” by his breakup with Rachel McAdams , reports Star .

According to the magazine, the actor “can’t let go” of his onetime girlfriend and The Notebook co-star.

“Pals say that after hearing Star’s recent reports that [McAdams] is getting close to her Southpaw co-star Jake Gyllenhaal, [Gosling] panicked,” writes the tabloid, citing its own unsubstantiated rumors as the reason for Gosling’s supposed anxiety.

A so-called “insider” tells the outlet, “It really bothered him. Rachel was the love of his life, and he can’t let go. He wants to give their relationship another shot.”

We’re not sure why Star decided to write The Notebook fan fiction this week, but given the mag’s weak, speculative track record regarding Gosling’s love life , maybe it should stay way from this kind of thing.

A source close to the situation tells Gossip Cop the story is “way off base.”
