HBO confirmed yesterday that it will indeed be Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn in True Detective Season 2. But there are two more leads that we’re waiting on.
The story will focus on three cops and a criminal. Vince is the criminal. Colin is one of the cops. Taylor Kitsch is supposedly close to signing on as the second, and the third is the one people are waiting on – the female lead.
To recap: Elisabeth Moss was one of the first names put out there, followed by Rachel McAdams. Last week, as many as 7 actors auditioned, including Rosario Dawson, Mrs Timberlake, and Brit Marling.
Deadline reports that McAdams is still part of the discussion but there could be a scheduling conflict. And then they threw down a major name:
Keira Knightley.

Keira and Colin worked together on London Boulevard. I really enjoyed watching their chemistry. But as much as I love Keira Knightley, and I do, and as much as I’d love to see her in a gritty project, I still prefer Rosario Dawson for this. Because she’s talented and interesting and because, well, as The Wrap noted last week, the real Los Angeles doesn’t just look like Colin, Keira, Vince, and Kitsch, does it?
