Details continue to surface regarding the circumstances surrounding Joan Rivers' demise, and the latest reports confirm that her surgeons used an inappropriate amount of propofol to put her under for her upper endoscopy.

Per a GossipCenter source, the 81-year-old was undergoing the procedure when her personal doctor Gwen Korovin also performed a laryngoscopy even though she lacked the credentials to operate at the Yorkville Endoscopy Center.

Doctors were unaware that Joan’s oxygen levels were dropping and because of their error she slipped into cardiac arrest. After the fact, one staffer confessed to imputing more than twice the amount of propofol necessary to sedate Ms. Rivers.

Joan’s daughter Melissa Rivers is pursuing legal action against the Yorkville facility as well as the doctors involved. Her lawyer stated, “Our client, Melissa Rivers, is terribly disappointed to learn of the multiple failings on the part of medical personnel and the clinic as evidenced by the CMS report. As any of us would be, Ms. Rivers is outraged by the misconduct and mismanagement now shown to have occurred before, during and after the procedure. Moving forward, Ms. Rivers will direct her efforts towards ensuring that what happened to her mother will not occur again with any other patient.”
